OCPA is committed to providing professional development opportunities for higher education professionals across Ohio. The Professional Development Institutes are a series of workshops sponsored by OCPA designed to provide professional development opportunities throughout the year for members of OCPA.

Join us on Thursday, June 4th at noon for a virtual round table geared towards first and second year (graduating) master's students involving a panel of grad school program directors!

Topics will include:

  • View of Higher Education in the state of Ohio during COVID-19
  • Advice for graduating Master's students & Job Searching in the time of COVID-19
  • Changes to program requirements for 1st year graduate students
  • Communication & classroom instruction with students & faculty in their programs
Our panelists include:
  • Dr. Debra Brace, University of Toledo
  • Dr. Mark Kretovics, Kent State University
  • Dr. Christina Lunceford, Bowling Green State University
  • Ken Schneck, Baldwin Wallace University
  • Dr. Michele Welkener, University of  Dayton

The COVID Corner will provide monthly asynchronous opportunities to build your trauma stewardship crafted by Jivanto van Hemert and Leah Ward, members of the Housing & Residence Life team at the University of Dayton. They have both found great knowledge and space for reflection in Laura van Dernoot Lipsky’s Trauma Stewardship (2009) which will be the foundation for their work, "COVID Corner", moving forward. Read more about the Corner as well as the June issue at this link.

Annual Conference

OCPA Annual Conferece 2020.png

Thursday, January 30- Friday, January 31, 2020
Worthington, OH
Double Tree Hotel & Conference Center

As educators, we bring our whole selves to work, and conversely, work often comes home with us. This year’s conference hopes to engage participants through keynote addresses, program sessions, and conversations about successfully integrating more balance within our lives.

Additionally, we are excited to welcome colleagues from the Association for Student Conduct Administration (ASCA) to join us for our 2020 Annual Conference. ASCA members are encouraged to share their expertise and network with other higher education professionals. We hope to use this inaugural year of partnership to guide future connections with area-specific organizations diversifying our education offerings.
